Categories

Pick the right category before you open a long list.

If you already know the item type, start there. It is faster than opening a broad page and skipping past half the results.

Quick answer: choose the narrowest category that matches the item family, then switch early if the first screen shows products you would skip.

Choosing well

Work backward from the thing you want

When a product name is broad, the category gives you a faster first filter. Start with the item family, then narrow by style, brand, color, or source link once the page is already close.

Shoes and sneakers

Start with footwear before chasing a model name

Shoes and sneakers can overlap. Use shoes for the widest footwear view, then move to sneakers when you only want runners, basketball pairs, or low tops.

Clothing

Choose the garment first

Jackets, hoodies, shirts, pants, and shorts each remove a different kind of noise. Pick the garment type before comparing individual products.

Accessories

Split bags, watches, and headwear early

Accessories can get noisy. Move bags, watches, hats, and belts into their closest specific category before comparing results.

A simple rule

Choose the page that removes the items you would skip.

If you would scroll past bags, jewelry, and watches, do not start in accessories. If you would skip jackets, shirts, and sweaters, open hoodies first. A close category usually gives you a cleaner result page than one broad phrase.

Next steps

1. Choose

Pick the category that matches what you came to find.

2. Scan

Open it and check whether the first few items make sense.

3. Adjust

If it is still too broad, switch to the closer category.
